Scented Seasons: Perfumes That Capture the Essence of Each Season

As the world around us transitions from the carefree days of summer to the cozy embrace of fall, the chilly stillness of winter, and the rejuvenation of spring, our scent preferences also shift. Each season has its own mood and memories, and the right fragrance can evoke those feelings long after the moment has passed. Here’s a look at the scents that capture the essence of each season and why they resonate with me.

Summer

Summer has always been my favorite season, a love that started in childhood. It was the time of family vacations, endless nights with friends, and the sweet, fleeting freedom from school. As an adult, the nostalgia of summer lingers, though its carefree spirit feels bittersweet now, fading under the weight of adult responsibilities.

The fragrance that embodies this season for me is Pas Ce Soir (BDK). It’s a fruity floral, sweet and tart, layered with spice to keep things exciting. The woody base grounds it, making it wearable day or night. It’s not the typical “beachy” or "summer" fragrance; it’s intriguing, inviting, and playful, much like the long summer nights that seen to stretch on forever yet slip away too soon.

Main Notes: Quince, Ginger, Black Pepper, Orange Blossom, Jasmine, Cashmeran, and Amberwood.

Fall

Fall is a season of coziness and contentment. As the weather cools and life gets back to its steady rhythm, there’s something comforting about this time of year. It’s warm sweaters and the last of the outdoor brunches and nighttime events with the girls before the chill fully sets in. It’s also a time of reflection, as we hold on to memories from summer trips, knowing that the darker, colder months are just around the corner.

Angels Share (Kilian) perfectly captures the warmth of these moments. Sharing memories over boozy nights and rich desserts. Its sweetness lingers for at least 8 hours, creating a cozy scent bubble.

Main Notes: Cognac, Cinnamon, Tonka Bean, Oakwood, Praline, and Vanilla.

Winter

Winter is my least favorite season; cold, gloomy, and weighed down by layers of clothing. Even though I live in sunny Southern California, the dreariness of winter sometimes finds its way in. On a brighter note, it’s cuddle season: the perfect time for intimate conversations, spontaneous date nights, and fun indoor activities with your love.

Althair (Parfums de Marly) is the fragrance that cuts through the cold winter gloom with its syrupy sweet orange blossom scent. It leaves a lingering trail that stays on the sheets, ensuring your presence is remembered long after.

Main Notes: Orange Blossom, Toffee, Tonka Bean, Amber, and White Musk.

Spring

Spring is a time for renewal, both inside and out. As the flowers bloom and the world feels refreshed, we embrace self-care and start planning for beach season. The air smells fresh and alive, and it’s the perfect moment to start anew with workout goals, a lighter wardrobe, and a brighter outlook.

Levant (Oromonde Jayne) captures this sense of rejuvenation. It’s a fresh, uplifting mix of florals, fruits, and woods that evokes the feeling of a cool breeze on a spring day. It’s light, airy, and full of life, just like the season itself.

Main Notes: Lemon, Mandarin, Rose, Jasmine, Cedar, and Amber.
